Musical Games
-
Round and Round the Village (a) - great for group participation,
non competitive
-
The Big Ship Sails Down the Illy Ally O (b) - a little harder
and takes more time
-
O, Have You Seen the Muffin Man (a) - great for checking
individual singing skills and developing confidence but takes a long time
with a big group; good for calming down an excitable group!
-
Please Mr. Crocodile - not actually singing but choral speech
- another favourite
-
Oh, the Grand Old Duke of York - good but short
-
Ten in the bed - works well so long as there are even numbers
- start where appropriate.
-
The train - a long train holding hand to hand with
the leader spiraling into the center and then turning and coming out backwards.
Then the leader spirals into the center again and reverses the spiral as
the train winds to a close to the accompaniment of Casey Jones (Magnante
arrangement). It is usually a good idea to have lots of parents
spaced along the train and to keep little ones near the front as the back
end swings around quite rapidly - need a week with lots of time to set
up and execute. Keep this for a treat and avoid days when the group
is over excited!
