We have just received Life Songs
($29.95 Can. + GST + actual shipping). We were able to order from
a Calgary outlet - Augsburg Fortress,, #1 - 216 - 40th Avenue NE, Calgary,

with many familiar hymns as well as material new to us. It has some
helpful advice regarding pieces appropriate to the lectionary readings
for each Sunday Years A, B and C. There is also an Augsburg Fortress
outlet in Kitchener, Ontario (800) 265-6397 as well as the main office

Just purchased March 16,
2000 - a new resource to us recommended by our friend and fellow cherub
choir director, Cathy Thomsen, in Calgary. It comes as a kit with
the music book (melody line only) and a cassette tape for $19.95 Can.
We were able to purchase this locally in an Anglican book store in Regina.
Wood Lake Books advised us where the nearest distributor was. There
are 27 songs, only a few of which are familiar children's hymns such as
Jesus
Loves Me and Away in a Manger. Some other pieces have
familiar music with new words and some songs are brand new to us.
We will certainly make good use of this resource and much of it is accessible
for younger members of the choir. The tape has the accompaniment
and the voice on separate channels so if you don't have an accompanist,
just put the balance all the over to the accompaniment channel.

(This is a large volume that we
purchased in the summer of 2002 in the United Kingdom. The cost in
the UK was 17.99 pounds. We have just started to use it and have not reviewed
the collection in depth, but we believe it contains a lot of new material
that is suitable to very young children.)
